Wish I could put in words, how significant that little act of moving out of the frame is. It took me several months after visiting the Bandipur National Park to begin work on this series of compositions.
It took several more iterations before I settled on the capsule-like frame for our fellow earthlings, and then decided to ‘break’ that frame. It’ll probably take the painting of several more critters from Bandipur to see just how flexible this framework, of space and time, really is.
Painted this using lake pigments from marigolds, hibiscus flowers and madder roots. Also used paint made from red soil and some bought indigo pigment.
